Answers to Questions Before they are asked Frequently
What are the sign up/due dates?
All sign ups are due by July 31st.
Stories will be due by September 30th but can be posted to the community anytime before this date.
How long do the stories have to be?
Over 1,000 words is preferred.
Do I have to match the film word for word, frame for frame?
Dear god no! The movie should be used as a prompt and you can follow the storyline as loosely or as closely as you want, but we shouldn't feel like we're reading a transcript with just the character names changed. You can write just a scene or the entire film but be creative.
Are there any rating/pairing restrictions?
No, all styles, ratings and pairing are welcome. Please be sure to warn appropriately but your stories can be slash, het or gen. Completely angst-ridden or delightfully cracktastic.
Can I choose a film that isn't on the list?
Yes, of course. Basically, the initial list is what you'd find in my DVD collections. As long as you are the first person to ask for that particular film, it will be added to the list as claimed. Please provide a link to the IMDB page for that movie (or to the movie website if one is not available) so others can check out what you're writing.
Can I choose more than one movie?
Yes, but only *after* you finish one. After you have chosen, completed and posted an initial prompt, you can claim another if there is time. Sign ups close before July 31st but once you are signed up you can claim again.
What if the movie I want is already claimed?
Only one person per movie, sorry. However, if you have your heart absolutely set on that particular movie, you can ask to be a "backup" so if the person who has claimed releases that prompt because they cannot finish, you will be the first contacted to let you know that that prompt is now available.
Speaking of which, what does happen if I have claimed something and cannot finish it?
This isn't a fic exchange so if you can't complete your assignment I won't be threatening kittens or puppies on your behalf. However, PLEASE let us know as soon as possible if you have claimed something and find you just can't get it done. Someone else might have wanted your movie.
Can I write RPF?
Not for this challenge, sorry.
Can I make art instead?
Sure thing. While this is predominantly a fic challenge, it's nice to have something pretty to look at while we're all busy writing away. Claim a prompt and specify ART if that's what you want to do. Collaborate with an author if you wish.
How about posting?
You can either post directly to the community or from your own journal with a link. If you have a multi-part story, we'd prefer you post just the one entry with links to the different parts from your own journal so we're not bombarding everyone with multiple entries. A template will be set up and a link to it on the userinfo page in the next couple of weeks.
Can I post something I've already written that fits the criteria of this challenge
No, only stories written for this challenge can be posted here. Otherwise it's cheating and you'll make fairies drop dead... or something.
What about if you haven't actually addressed the question I have??
Feel free to post additional queries here or you can contact me directly at reel_sg1@yahoo.com. |
